Things to Do in Barcelona in July 2026

Discover the best things to do in Barcelona in July 2026, from summer festivals and rooftop terraces to hidden gems, beaches and unforgettable experiences.

There’s something magical about Barcelona in July.

The city slows down during the hottest hours, but as the sun begins to set, terraces fill up, parks host live concerts, locals head to the beach after work, and every evening feels like an invitation to stay outside just a little longer.

If you’re visiting Barcelona in July 2026, forget about rushing from monument to monument. Summer is the perfect time to experience the city like a local.

Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy Barcelona this July.

1. Watch a film under the stars at Sala Montjuïc

Few summer experiences are as memorable as watching a classic film in the open air surrounded by the walls of Montjuïc Castle.

Sala Montjuïc returns every summer with an excellent programme of international films, live music before each screening and one of the city’s most unique settings.

Bring a blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy one of Barcelona’s favourite summer traditions.

2. Escape the heat at the Laberint d'Horta

While thousands of visitors crowd the city’s main attractions, one of Barcelona’s most beautiful parks remains surprisingly peaceful.

The Laberint d’Horta is home to the city’s oldest preserved garden, featuring elegant sculptures, romantic pathways, fountains and, of course, its famous hedge maze.

It’s the perfect place for a slow morning away from the tourist crowds.

3. Discover Barcelona from a rooftop terrace

Rooftop

Barcelona’s skyline is best enjoyed with a drink in hand.

During July, many hotels open their rooftop terraces to everyone, not just guests. Some even host live DJs, sunset sessions or cocktail evenings overlooking landmarks like the Cathedral, Montjuïc or the Mediterranean.

Every rooftop has its own atmosphere, making it a great way to experience a different side of the city.

4. Enjoy a sunset sailing trip

Barcelona looks completely different from the sea.

As temperatures cool down in the evening, sailing trips along the coastline become one of the city’s most popular experiences. Watching the skyline glow in the golden light while enjoying a gentle breeze is hard to beat.

Whether you choose a shared catamaran or a private sailing boat, it’s an unforgettable way to spend a summer evening.

5. Explore Gràcia before Festa Major takes over

Although the famous Festa Major de Gràcia takes place in August, July is the perfect time to wander through the neighbourhood before the crowds arrive.

Independent boutiques, artisan bakeries, leafy squares and a relaxed atmosphere make Gràcia one of Barcelona’s most charming districts.

Stop for a coffee in Plaça de la Vila or simply lose yourself among its quiet streets.

6. Spend an evening at the Grec Festival

Every July, Barcelona celebrates the Grec Festival, one of the city’s biggest cultural events.

Expect theatre, dance, music, circus performances and international productions in some of Barcelona’s most spectacular venues, including the beautiful open air Teatre Grec on Montjuïc.

Even if you don’t speak Spanish or Catalan, many performances are visual and accessible to international audiences.
